Commentary
The text is dated to Month II/May, the period when sesame was sown. The scribe Aḫubaqar[individual=Aḫubaqar] was also present with two farmers during the harvest period in the same year (see Nisaba 15/2 0111, CUSAS 40/2 0148), and there the three individuals are identified as coming „from Dēr“. The verb igi du8[glossary=igi du8] translates as „to observe, to watch, to look at“, and this implies that the scribe came to learn about the seeding of sesame.
r.i 8: uru4-a [glossary=uru4-a], lit. „ploughed“, is taken here in the sense of „cultivation“, since the same term is also applied in Nisaba 15/2 0111 r. 9, a text dated to the harvest period. This excludes a reading as absin3-a „in the furrow“; note furthermore that „furrow“ is usually written ababsin3 (or ab-sin2) in Ur III texts.
