o. i 2, 10 saĝ-bi, literally „its head“, corresponds here to 9.9 % of the total butter volume. saĝ-bi can be applied to weights and volumes, and it fluctuates quite considerably. Waetzoldt (1972: 30 fn. 252) refers to it as „weight compensation“ (German Gewichtszuschlag) because it must be added together to the weighed material. Passages like MVN 15 108 r. i 10 saĝ na4-bi, with the term na4 „stone (weight)“ explicitly referring to it, confirm this. Nevertheless, this term occurs with weighed materials and materials measured in capacity, like dairy products. In this respect, saĝ-bi is understood as „weight/capacity adjustment“.
