Commentary
What is preserved in this fragmentary text documents the annual dairy quotas of at least two goat herds in the years Šulgi 45 and Šulgi 46. It records two different rates: the first is 0.5 litres of „butter“ (i3-nun) and of „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) per „nanny goat“ (ud5) per year; The second is 0.3 of „butter“ (i3-nun) and of „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) per „nanny goat“ (ud5) per year. For further details on the annual dairy quotas in Ĝirsu, see Dossier A.2.1.03.
i 5’-10’ registers 23.6 litres of both „butter“ (i3-nun) and „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) as the delivery quota of dairy products from 45 nanny goats. This corresponds to the rate of 0.5 litres of both „butter“ (i3-nun) and „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) per „nanny goat“ (ud5) per year.
ii 5’-10’ registers 15.3 litres of both „butter“ (i3-nun) and „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) as the delivery quota of dairy products from 47 nanny goats. This corresponds to the rate of 0.3 litres of both „butter“ (i3-nun) and „sour milk cheese“ (ga-ara3) per „nanny goat“ (ud5) per year.
