1. Sesame Harvest and Distribution

The various steps in the cultivation and harvesting of sesame were discussed with the dossier A.1.1.10.

This dossier includes first of all lists of workmen employed for the harvest of sesame (Nisaba 15/2 0547, ŠS.09.00.00; Nisaba 15/2 0915, IS02.00.00; Nisaba 15/2 0552, ŠS.09.00.00; Nisaba 15/2 0916, IS02.00.00).

Nisaba 15/2 0043 r. 6-8 (AS.07.08.25) refers to the transport after the harvest, namely from a rural place called Anzagara [geogr=Anzagara](meaning „Tower, Fortress“). The sesame was brought into the storehouse as „lease“ (apin-la2) (Nisaba 15/2 0364, ŠS.06.07.00), and the annual amounts vary between 24,060 and 107,280 litres of sesame seeds (Nisaba 15/2 0423, ŠS.01 to ŠS.07.00.00). Once, the yield from domain land (gana2 gud) is attested with an amount of 139,904 litres (CUSAS 40/2 1761).

For the transport of „pounded“ (tub2-tub2-ba) sesame seeds, 20 reed baskets of 30 liters each are recorded in Nisaba 15/2 0515 (ŠS.09.07.00).

The case of stolen sesame is included here as well (Nisaba 15/2 0528 o.1-9, ŠS.09.08.00).
