This glossary collects some central Akkadian terms related to oils and fats in early Mesopotamia, basically in Old Babylonian texts. The nouns (N), adjectives (Adj), and verbs (V) are divided into four groups according to their semantic field:
- Group 1, oil and its resources: names of oils and fats, their qualities and their resources
- Group 2, technology: terms related to the production and refinement of oils and fats
- Group 3, vessels: containers used for oils and fats
- Group 4, consumption: anointing and other uses of oils and fats
