Commentary
According to this document the yield of sesame oil from milling amounts to 22 % of the volume of processed sesame seeds. Another way to record the yield of sesame oil from milling is to register the amount of sesame oil (72 or 75 litres) per each 300 litres (1 gur) of sesame seeds processed: 8.0.0 še-ĝeš-i3 gur 0.1.1 2 sila3-ta “2,400 litres of sesame seeds at 72 litres (oil) (per 1 gur of sesame seeds)” (Aleppo 347, Šu.44.12.00, i.e., ca. 24 %). Another document registers 75 litres oil per each 300 litres of sesame seeds (MVN 01 208 o. 1, […].00.00, unknown provenience: 7.2.0 še-ĝeš-i3 gur sila3 75-ta “2,220 litres sesame seeds at 75 litres (oil) per each (300 litres of seeds)”, i.e. ca. 25 %).
