Commentary

In Ĝirsu [geogr=Ĝirsu]sacrifices in the sesame fields are attested mostly before the harvest in months V/August and VI/September (see Dossier A.1.1.04 § 6), as is the case in this text. Such sacrifices in the fields are known for various crops in Ĝirsu and Umma [geogr=Umma]in the Ur III period (Sallaberger 1993: 264-270, 301-303).
