Commentary

This text records a large quantity of sesame for the annual oil allotments for soldiers. It does not mention the origin of the sesame nor who is delivering it, but the official responsible for the transaction (ĝiri3) was the scribe Ikūn-pī-Šamaš. The same scribe Ikūn-pī-Šamaš functioned as official responsible for the transaction (ĝiri3) also in a similar annual account (SAT 3 1935) explicitly stating that the sesame was supplied from Karaḫar [geogr=Karaḫar] by Guzana [individual=Guzana] (Steinkeller; Steinkeller 1982: 640-644; Waetzoldt 1985: fn. 37 and see dossier A.1.1.1). Therefore, most likely, also the sesame of SAT 3 1854 can be considered a procurement.
